Lizard Man
The Lottery selected ConstantNow
to produce their latest commercial campaign based around
the infamous (some say real) monster from Bishopville,
SC that was first sighted in 1988. The four broadcast
spots focus on the re-emergence of Lizard Man due to
the popularity of the Lottery's Palmetto Cash 5 game.
Teaming with a Hollywood makeup and prosthetics company
to create a full body monster suit, the Lizard Man comes
to life as a reclusive, yet good-natured part of the
rural community.
Shot in two nights around the Columbia and Bishopville
areas, the four spots follow a fictitious news crew
that accidentally stumbles upon the Lizard Man as they
cover the production of a new commercial campaign. The
crew then chases the beast through the continuing story
to reveal him winning the grand prize in the final spot.
Using parody and an graphic style that mimics current
news formats, the series of spots are the foundation
of a campaign including appearances, special signage
and Lizard Man game cards.
